National Contact Registry stole my previous blog

I previously posted about how my previous domain, shannonalbert.com, was stolen which is why I had to setup this new one. Here’s some details on how that happened.

- my domain name came up for renewal this summer and I didn’t receive the email notifications because it was an old account that I no longer had the password for. Not only that but the credit card that was on file was expired so it couldn’t auto-renew.
- the domain name went to auction for somebody else to buy. It was purchased by National Contact Registry. So far, the whole thing is annoying but legal.
- Then National Contact Registry took a copy of my whole site/blog from shannonalbert.com and put it up on their own servers. That’s called plagiarism and it’s very illegal.
- In trying to deal with them, it became clear that they just buy sites so they can charge you a lot of money to get it back. Apparently lots of people have had this happen to them and they just give up.
- I started a new site to chronicle these issues called NationalContactRegistryStoleMySite.com. Subtle, right?

I don’t want these criminals to get away with this and I’m hoping we can all fight back to get him stopped. I’ll keep you posted.

Good for you. Didn’t this happen to Kidd Kraddick? They stole kiddkraddick.com and so he had to change to kiddlive.com? Oh, wait. Maybe it was another radio station that did it to upset him. Can’t remember. But, yes. I do know it happens often!

Russ Martin got it and put up stuff on that site making fun of Kidd. Russ is now off the air since he beat his fiance up and she filed a police report. Karma. Hope it works out for me too. :)

So when I go to shannonalbert.com it is not yours? The first entry at that site from this blog is the title to this post:)
Are you dropping the “remarkably clever” title?
I plan on keeping you on the D&M site since you “work” in Wichita but I will drop the shannonalbert.com site from the roll.
I’m sorry I had this blogging lag and did not get to interview you.

Right, it’s not mine anymore. The domain name lagged and then somebody bought it and stole my site. Remarkably Clever articles are now here and when you visit them at remarkablyclever.com, you’re redirected to that same article on this site now. I was feeling too fragmented with multiple blogs and decided to combine them here.

Hey Shannon
Can’t believe that! Good for you for starting a new one and the one to chronicle this.
