I will setup your WordPress blog for free. Here’s how.

Blog friends! Starting today, I’m going to begin offering some blog services including setting up WordPress blogs for free.

Did she just say free?

Yessum, I did say that.

I believe strongly that WordPress is the best blogging platform for a professional-looking blog but it’s also the most difficult to get setup. To ease that transition, I’m offering the service for free….as long as you use my affiliate link to setup your hosting.

I have a whole page setup on what this service includes, some FAQs and how to request this free service from me. Please read my Free WordPress Blog Setup page for more information. This is such a win/win/win situation I can barely stand it but it’s only good through February 28 so please don’t procrastinate.

I also decided to create a Blog Services page because I thought people might logically want something other than just a free WordPress blog setup. Anticipating those questions, I’ve listed out some other services along with their description and price. Want me to review your blog? Need your posts transferred from your old blog to your new blog? Want some graphics designed for your blog? You’ll find more information on those things and more on my Blog Services page.

Internet friends, this is very exciting for me. These are the kinds of things I do for fun, people ask me lots of questions about it and now I have a way of offering these services right on my blog (some for free! until February 28!). Please pass on the word to anybody that you know who might find these services useful.

I like to be useful.

Wow! Great idea. I love the Blog Services page. You might even get this gal to make the switch with those services being offered.

I’d so love to have you on WordPress but, alas, your Blogger makeover is on its way.

Shannon, this is SO great. I may take you up on this as we are starting some student blogs up at work and could use the help :-) I’ll send you more details soon! Another “remarkably clever” idea from you!

Thanks, Ed. I’m only leaving this up for free until end of February so please send them before then.

With Shawn’s hectic work schedule this sounds really appealing, but he already bought my new blog name so that means it would then cost. Guess I better just wait for things to simmer down so he has time for a personal project.

Great thing to offer people, though. WordPress is my choice for the new blog, too.

No, having an existing domain name is fine. It’s the new hosting account that matters.

what is a hosting account? i’m dumb.

To have a WordPress blog, you have to have a hosting company which is the server where your actual blog lives. If you just want your Blogger blog to use your new domain name that Shawn already bought, that just take a few minutes to point and he should totally be able to do that. Nag him about that.

If you want a WordPress blog though, it’s more steps and that’s why I’m offering to help with the setup for free since it’s often a barrier for newbies to get started.

I want a WordPress blog. I need a change/something more professional. Are the layouts fairly modifiable? I guess I mean, could I have a rad header like yours?

Pretty much all blogs have headers, including WordPress ones but most people just choose a free one from a list. Mine is very…unique… because I created it myself in Photoshop using lots of the things I love. You could do the same regardless of which blogging platform you use. Obviously Shawn has mad Photoshop skillz (not to mention the software itself) but you can also use a free trial of Photoshop Elements and do much of it yourself if you’re willing to tinker.

I would agree that WordPress is more professional-looking. I would browse lists like this one for free themes to see the kinds of things you like. Once you pick a theme, that is how your blog will look but individual elements can be switched out. For instance, if you chose this theme, you would have that look but could switch out the header area to reflect things you want there.

I should point out that I use the Thesis theme which I paid for (around $80) and once it’s installed, then you can do a lot of code tweaking. Not sure I would recommend that but since I’ve been programming since 5th grade, having total control just made sense for me.
