I’m obsessed with the show “Teen Mom” which features 4 of the girls from the show “16 & Pregnant” which I was really into last year. This show should win an Emmy; however, I have some thoughts on it which I probably shouldn’t say out loud which, of course, means I’m writing about it on my blog.
1. Ryan is hot
Ummm, this young deadbeat dad? He is the hotness. Especially in these glasses.
Yeah, I know he doesn’t like “take care of his kid” or “pay attention to his baby mama” but dayummmm. I didn’t say I’d want to have kids with him. He’d just be fun for a minute.
2. I’m rooting for this 17-year-old engaged couple
And then we have THESE TWO.
Engaged as high school seniors? Hell, yeah. I’m rooting for them all the way. I hate how adults criticize young people for not knowing what love is or how to do relationships because guess what? Most adults I know don’t either. These two are going to make it.
3. Catelynn’s mom is on meth
Speaking of Catelynn, this is her mom.
Internet, do you recall that I am 35 now? Catelynn’s mom is THIRTY SEVEN. She’s on meth, right? Meth must make you mean and old. I need to rethink my plans for 2010.
4. Deadbeat teen boys make me like my husband more
This show has made me appreciate Andy more. We’re twice the age of these kids so that’s kind of weird BUT I think the message to come out of the show is that it isn’t always when you have kids as much as it is who you have kids with. Most teens don’t choose a partner that would make a good parent but, hell, most adults I know don’t either.
5. Amber suffers from depression
I’m going to go ahead and make a diagnosis based on a TV show: Amber is depressed. She needs meds. Nothing makes her happy. And Gary should have left her. Especially after this:
I dislike this couple so much that I sometimes just fast-forward (I used to say “forward fast” when I was a teen) through their parts. Ick. And they should let their baby out of her Baby Jail every once in a while.
Random tidbits they haven’t shown on the show:
- Farrah’s baby daddy died in a car accident while she was pregnant
- Farrah’s mom got arrested recently for choking her
- Maci has a new dude! (She took the pic down but it was her Facebook profile pic thingie)
Reunion show is next week with my silver-haired fox, Dr. Drew. Can’t wait.

Great observations.
Farrah’s mom looks like the Grinch. I like Farrah. Sad about her baby daddy. I couldn’t agree more with liking Tone better after watching some shows. The Bachelorette and Millionaire Matchmaker are two that do the trick.
And the best thing you said in the whole post?

I agree and I don’t watch the shows. Most adults don’t make smart decisions…….those with experience and an education and the means to succeed. Why should we criticize younger couples?

You know all the good dirt… Farrah’s baby daddy was killed in a car wreck?! I had no idea.
I love this show, too… I’ve been a huge fan of MTV documentaries for a while, and they did an awesome job with this one. Gary and Amber drive me nuts more than anyone too. Ryan is hot… until he opens his mouth.

We are so different yet very much the same when it comes to pop culture. I too, feel the exact same way you do on all five of these observations. Ryan’s dad is hot too.
And Dr. Drew? Ummm, yes please!
Did know about Farrah’s mom being arrested but didn’t know about the baby daddy dying. He wasn’t dead during “Pregnant and 16.” She is pretty disrespectful though.
