No video this week

But if I did have a video, this is what it would have said.

  • Weighed in just a little under last week which is ridiculously frustrating considering I ran 4 times (including my new distance of 2.25 miles) and have been careful with food. Maybe I plateau for a couple of weeks and then drop a few pounds at a time. I don’t know.
  • I got a new HTC Hero Android phone and I’m trying to get used to it. My iPhone (which is for work) is something I’ve come to really depend on so I’m trying to make the new phone just as comfortable.
  • The kids had a snow day on Friday and they are out Monday for President’s Day. Four days in a row at home. Grrreat.
  • Winter Olympics opening ceremony: lame

:( for the weight loss. Yes, frustrating.

Enjoy the days off with kids!

I’ve dropped 2.5 pounds since I posted this. My body likes to keep me guessing.

I thought parts of the ceremony were really good, but overall, I was a bit disappointed. Especially as a Canadian. The music was mostly sloooooow and dragging, too much focus on nature, so many stereotypical Canadian images: maple leaves, polar bears???

And punk fiddlers! Don’t forget them.

Awww. No weekly video? That’s lame. ;-) Just kidding. Miss hearing your voice this week!

Sorry about the weight loss. Or lack thereof. Keep it up, it may be a bit of your body just adjusting to the increased exercise. Maybe you’re not eating enough now that you’re exercising more? Are you still tracking your WW points? Now might be a good time to look at how many points you eat vs. spend on exercise.

I have been loving the Olympics but missed the opening ceremony. Heard it was lame as well. Love the US teams Ralph Lauren goodness though. Very hip.

Thanks for the tutorial on uploads. It worked.

And yes, the weight loss is annoying. I was down 3 pounds and don’t know how. But when I bust it, I lose .5 lbs? Doesn’t make sense.

You didn’t miss anything especially compared to the Olympics that were in China. That opening ceremony was AMAZING.

Hang in there on the weight loss…you’re doing great!

Hope you have a good day with the kiddos.

We had a great day together on Monday because Andy wasn’t here. Any combo of the 3 of us works better than all 4. The kids would be awesome kids of divorced parents. Sadly for them, we aren’t planning on that. Yet.

Whoah, hang in there. 4 days? I’d lose it.
Haha Casey, “Enjoy your days off with the kiddos!” She’s so weird.
2.25 miles? NICE! You probably are adding muscle weight, did you consider that? If you work out enough, not just lifting even cardio, it can add muscle gain at the same time you’re losing fat.

The muscle weight thing is overused a little bit I think. I do think I’m gaining back some muscle but I’ve got a lot of fat to lose.

Good point. I always consider the density differences such as muscle denser than fat, bone density, shifting of matter to different parts of the body, etc., when I hear someone is relying on a scale. I hadn’t realized it had lost its credit, though.

I have heard consistently gaining more muscle raises your metabolism which will eventually (2 to 3 weeks) lead to a sudden reduction of adipose tissue. Weight gain can be misleading during that time, and sometimes shape.

Personally, I focus on shape and posture since as you’ve noticed weight just doesn’t make much sense. No way for me to get confused if I don’t give those weight numbers any merit, and my shape will let me know what’s going on since clothing has been a really good monitor.

Then again, I seem to have developed a very stable body image in my mind, i.e. it seems to keep me in line somehow (semi-consciously) and so my body doesn’t shift back and forth. Yet, I’d say posture is very important, too, since it affects which muscles do nothing or something when running, or anything. You know, if you ain’t working it, you ain’t building it or burning it. :-)

Sorry about the lack of the video. I feel partly responsible in some weird twisted way.

I am anxious to hear a full review of the Android phone.

Didn’t see the opening ceremonies but I did spend alllll day yesterday in front of the TV, watching the Olympic events. (can’t imagine why I spent all day in front of the TV)

Blake’s had the Android for most of the last few days but I will plan a post to compare the two. Like them both though.
