New blog design: how and why and stuff

New month so it must be a new blog design here at shannonalbert.me.

I didn’t think that would happen when I designed it two months ago but here we are with a whole new look. As I mentioned in my weekly video yesterday, I redesigned my blog for a couple of reasons.

1.) To show that I could do an entire custom design and not just headers
2.) To allow me to feature more content like blog services, a portfolio, stuff like that

My inspiration was this comforter that I sleep with in mah bed.

Also inspiring? This girl.

Her name is Jamie Varon and she’s a hilarious girl who happens to be a really awesome Thesis designer. Her designs are clever and most definitely don’t look like your typical Thesis site. She inspires me to keep learning.

Check out some of her Thesis designs.

And we all read The Bloggess, right? She did that site too.

Nice, huh? Yeah, that’s why she inspires me.

On a related note, my free WordPress blog setup period is over and it went much better than I anticipated. I ended up getting a lot of paid business because of the offer to setup free WordPress blogs. I’m now booking up for design and programming services and I’m currently putting together a portfolio and a better blog services page. I LOVE WORKING ON BLOGS. I do. It’s re-energized me and it’s so awesome to feel creative and helpful all at once. Please pass on my name (or Jamie’s name, if you like) to anybody you know who is need of some blog pimpin’.

You continue to amaze me with your geeky talents. LOVE this design. Very you, very new, very creative. I can’t wait to learn more about blog design when I actually have some time to mess with it. That will probably be in December. Seriously.
I can’t believe you lost 15 pounds since Christmas! That is nuts. I don’t know how you do it, woman. Actually I do now that you posted about it. Liked that you mentioned the clothes situation. I always buy winter clothes a size bigger instead of trying to squeeze into the same size I wear any other time of year.
I, too, can see that you’ve lost weight. GOOD JOB!!!

Rock on Shannon! Congrats on all your new clients. I tweeted about you a couple weeks back, I hope some people took you up on your free WP offer. And weird that you wrote about Jamie, as I was just looking at her portfolio yesterday. :)

I don’t know the old design, but I love the new design. It is a good one, it serves its purpose. It invited me to browse around.
Excellent work!
