Digging in the archives

It occurred to me when Sass was surprised that I have a dog that most readers haven’t been reading that long so they wouldn’t know some of the older things I’ve written about. Here are some posts from the archives that you might like to read. Or not.

(Side note: new bloggers should know that I got maybe 5 comments my whole first year of blogging. I didn’t realize that until I just went searching back through 4 years of archives.)

Thailand Trip Report

The post that started it all – our trip report to Thailand. Andy and I left the kids for 10 days and went to Thailand where his brother was living. Fantastic trip.

Payton starts 6th grade

Did you know Payton hasn’t always looked like a grownup? Here was her first day of 6th grade plus a pic of Blake at age 4.

Scavenger hunt I created for both kids

I had a scavenger hunt for the kids where we went to a park and I gave each kid a piece of paper with directions on how to find gifts. Payton’s was written in riddles and Blake’s was a map. They got some big gifts out of this deal.

Payton and Aubry sing a Panic at the Disco song

Lawd have mercy.

Video interview with kindergartner Blake

In 2007, Kami and I planned a trip to take our little ones to Disney World together. We booked it in January and we traveled in September. In this video, I interview Blake about various things including asking him about our trip to Disney World which he’d just found out about, right before we were leaving on our trip.

Blake’s future training to be on Glee began

Blake loves him some musicals. In this video, he sings a bit from his favorite musical, Mary Poppins. Lawd have mercy…..again.

Running a half marathon

Marcy and I ran a half-marathon in 2008. I also wrote a post with tips that’s my most popular post ever (in terms of traffic) called “Couch to Half Marathon.”

Reasons why Blake is a geek

This post was written when Blake was 6. If i wrote it now, it would be so much longer. I love my little geek.

Blake’s Mega Huge Birthday Weekend

Blake declared this the best birthday weekend ever. I’m not sure I’ll ever live up to this again. Hint: the GPS was involved. All good things involve a GPS.

My birthday post to myself

When I turned 34, I created a birthday post for myself made up entirely of pictures of things I love. It still makes me happy.

Our first train trip

We took a train trip from Kansas City to St. Louis and we made use only of public transportation during this trip. It was fun and I wrote LOTS of details in this trip report.

Our first cruise

Last year, we went on our first cruise. I wrote a trip report about it and then also a blog post about tips for first time cruisers.

Tweeting with JT

I once Tweeted with JT a few times over a span of a few days. (Sadly, the images in that post don’t display correctly.) I even made the news about it.

Depression

I wrote about my struggles.

Yes, we have a dog

People seem shocked to hear that we have a dog. That’s why I wrote this post.

Shopping for Homecoming dresses with Payton

Pictures of the dresses she tried on. She only played with formal dresses when she had Barbie dolls and now she gets to do it for real.

My favorite time I’ve ever, ever had with Blake

Blake and I went to Disneyland for a few days last September. Best. time. ever.

Ever wonder why I don’t have ShannonAlbert.com?

Well, I used to. Until my credit card that was on file expired so the domain didn’t renew. And then this jerk stole the contents of my site. And then I made a site about him.

I raised some money for my birthday.

For every commenter, I donated groceries. Now that organization won’t stop contacting me to donate more.

Hopefully that gives you a bit more info about me. And proves that Payton really exists.

I absolutely love this! I remember every single one of those posts but it is still fun to go back and read them again. Ah the memories! Life has been good huh? (rhetorical!)

Good recap. And, don’t worry. Sass will point out your lack of comments. Like she did on mine.

I’m happy to report I was familiar with all of this! Maybe I should take one of those annoying Facebook quizzes to see how much I really know you. Because I really like all of those quizzes.

Good to know, though I know of you through Casey! She could pass a facebook quiz for sure :)

Yep. I definitely would have commented on your lack of comments had you not mentioned it. Not that I’m the comment queen or anything. Funny how that works.
I LOVE catching up! So glad you posted this. Uhm, Payton looks wayyyyy too good in those dresses. I know you know this. Enjoyed the Disney trip, birthday, and especially how some douche stole your content. You’re so subtle. And I love ya for it.
I plan to come back and check out the old posts I had to skip over. Like Thailand and the Cruise!

Ok, I’m a newbie to your blog so I loved this! The interview with Blake is hilarious. Is he eating mac n cheese for breakfast???? Hahaha. And I think he may have been swallowing those mandarin oranges whole.
Still need to go back and look at the rest.
